CTI Project Mapping ToolTools
The Coral Triangle Initiative (CTI) Project Mapping Tool provides a regional-level map of CTI-related projects from 2009. The map also gives basic project information while grouping the projects by goals in the Regional Plan of Action.
An initiative requested by the Regional Secretariat of the CTI, the tool responded to the need of the National Coordinating Committees (NCC). It is supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and was first presented at the senior officials’ meeting in Malaysia in 2012 and presented to the Philippine NCC in early 2013.
The Mapping Tool is a decision-support tool that can be used by different stakeholders. It provides NCCs a visual glimpse of the CTI-related activities within the country, allowing them to maximize available funds (e.g., avoiding duplication of efforts). It also allows for identification of possible synergies among various projects being run in a particular site.
CTI partners worked on project locations and this information was collated into a spreadsheet database then converted into an online map that allows users to answer, review, and display the geographic location of individual projects, geographic distribution of projects (to identify areas with project concentrations or areas with few or no projects), project status, geographic association between two or more projects (to identify areas for probable collaboration, duplication or conflict), projects addressing specific goals of the National Plans of Action, and project information (project name, implementing agency, goals, donors/funding sources, project contact, implementation period and more).
