The 3rd Asia Regional Conference of the Society for Conservation of Biology – Asia SectionConference
(CONFERENCE: 19-22 August 2014) The 3rd Asia Section meeting will take place from 19-22 August 2014, in Melaka, Malaysia. This town is halfway between Kulau Lumpur and Singapore (about a two-hour drive from either airport) and is a World Heritage Site.
The SCB Asia Section was officially launched during the 2003 SCB Annual Meeting in Duluth, Minnesota. Our geographic area ranges from the Middle East to the Far East, with members from Israel in the west to the Philippines in the east. Russia is also part of the Asian section due to its land areas in Asia, although it participates in the Europe Section as well. The SCB Asia Section brings together experts from many nations and disciplines to address biodiversity science and policy across the largest continent.
One of the workshops lined up for the conference will tackle enabling conditions towards effective Marine Protected Areas for marine mammals in Asia organized by the Southeast Asian Marine Mammal (SEAMAMM).
